Richmond Hill has over 80 industrial facilities and offices including Penguin Books and Exco Technologies. The industrial base here has grown 600% since 1980. Richmond Hill is home to the 300 bed South Lake Regional Health Centre, one of the region's largest healthcare facilities. Richmond Hill uses highway 404 to access downtown Toronto via the Don Valley Parkway, and Highway 400 and Highway 9 provide convenient access to Toronto's west end. Richmond Hill has excellent GO Transit (by train and bus) and York Region Transit service.


Richmond Hill has 21 elementary schools (1 French language, and 5 high schools.


Main Street in Richmond Hill features early 19th-century style architecture, streetlights, and flower barrels. Richmond Hill's 1 million square foot Upper Canada Mall provides a great shopping at over 250 stores and services.

Richmond Hill has four public arenas, two indoor pools, and is close to the Holland River Trail System. The community has 300 acres of parks including pretty Fairy Lake allows for plenty of recreational, cultural and arts activities. Markham has 4 ice arenas, 38 baseball diamonds, 2 indoor pools, 1 outdoor pools, 18 public tennis courts, 1 public golf course, and 1 private one.


There's a variety of single family housing here, offsetting the century homes in the older, more central part of Richmond Hill. Single family detached house homes run around $380,000, with semi-detached and condos running around $275,000, respectively.
