Homes: Vaughan Neighbourhood


Vaughan has a population of 230,000 and includes the communities of Woodbridge, Maple, Thornhill, Concord and Kleinburg. Vaughan has over 7300 businesses, many clustered n the Concord and Woodbridge areas. Woodbridge is home to 70,000 and Maple is home to 40,000, and both have a strong percentage of Italian-heritage residents. Thornhill has 63,000 residents and is Vaughan's most diverse community

Schools
Vaughan has 50 English language elementary schools, and 5 French language elementary schools, and 9 English language high schools. Markham has some ethnic community schools and good ESL programs. There are 5 libraries in this cimmunity.

Shopping
Thornhill has a designated heritage district, around Yonge and Centre streets (south of the 407), with lots shopping, restaurants and services. Vaughan is an affluent community with lots of stores, movie theatres and restaurants here.

Recreation
Vaughan has over 300 hectares of parkland and conservation areas, especially along the scenic Humber River valley. Kleinburg is home to the Kortright Centre, Canada's largest environmental centre, and the McMichael gallery, home to one of Canada's largest collections of early 1900s Group of Seven artworks. Paramount Canada's Wonderland amusement park is one of the country's top tourist attractions. For the active person, Markham has 5 arenas, 4 indoor pools, 1 outdoor pool, 13 public golf courses, and 4 private golf courses.

Homes
Woodbridge is attractive and family-oriented with newly-developed subdivisions and custom-built estates. Maple's newer home neighbourhoods are styled to reflect the community's original Victorian-style village. Homes in the historic village of Kleinburg, established in 1848, also maintains the atmosphere of early Canadian tradition and architecture.
