Newmarket is a major community of 73,000 in the heart of York Region. Newmarket has over 80 industrial facilities and offices including Penguin Books and Exco Technologies. Recreation Newmarket has four public arenas, two indoor pools, and is close to the Holland River Trail System. The community has 300 acres of parks including pretty Fairy Lake allows for plenty of recreational, cultural and arts activities. Markham has 4 ice arenas, 38 baseball diamonds, 2 indoor pools, 1 outdoor pools, 18 public tennis courts, 1 public golf course, and 1 private one.
