Performance Venue: Red Barn Theatre (Georgina)
905-722-3249 1-888-733-2276 (1-888-RED-BARN) 991 Lake Drive East Jackson’s Point, ON, L0E 1L0 (near Georgina, adjacent to the Briar's Resort) The Red Barn is Canada's oldest professional summer theatre, performing in a barn dating back to before 1877 (when Dr. Frank Sibbald bought it from a man named Thompson). Toronto-born actor, Alfred Mulock, started a theatre in Jackson's Point in 1949 and leased the red barn as a performance venue, and he converted it into a theatre. Today The Red Barn Theatre today is operated under the auspices of The Lake Simcoe Arts Foundation (L.S.A.F.), a not-for-profit entity. Resurgence Theatre also presents Canada's first Open Air Garden Theatre--in partnership with Canada Blooms and Gardening Life Magazine-in a magical setting at Fairy Lake Park in Newmarket.
